I would like to welcome coach PETER MURAO “Back” to Gymnastics World. Coach Peter served our GW students for close to 9 years before moving out of state to pursue a career in Management and Business Development in Arlington, Virginia. Now back home to GW.

Originally from the Midwest, coach Peter earned a scholarship at Indiana University in Bloomington Indiana, and became the gymnastics team captain. Early in 2022, he was inducted into the Indiana Gymnastics Hall of Fame .

As a competitor, Peter was Big Ten conference champion (FX) for two consecutive years in 1977 and 1978, winning a total of six individual Big Ten medals and tow individual bronze medals in Houston Texas at the 1978 AAU Senior Elite National Championships. In 1978 Peter was selected to the NCAA All-America Team.

Indiana University honored Peter in 1978 with two of it's highest student-athlete awards for accomplishment in academics, athletics and positive contributions for the University. Peter holds Bachelor of Science (1978 Marketing) and Master of Business Administration (1980 Finance) degree's from Indiana University.

Peter served as the assistant head coach for the Indiana University Women's and Men's Gymnastics teams in 1979 and 1980 while pursuing a graduate degree.

Needless to say, coach Peter, brings extensive experience as a coach to gymnastics and we are happy to have him back to change the young athletes' lives.
